In addition to excellent mechanical properties, the joints are also characterized by their high dimensional accuracy.
The DynaSTIR technology developed by Grenzebach also allows outstanding surface qualities to be realized. Suitable for this, Grenzebach offers a broad portfolio of FSW machines that can be customized to customer-specific and project-specific production solutions.

During Friction Stir Welding, a rotating tool generates the required process heat via friction and pressure at the process zone. The heatened material becomes malleable and is stirred along the seam by the rotation of the tool. In this way, media-tight and  durable welding joints are created, which are accompanied by low structural deformations or residual stresses. Ideal for welding of battery trays, heat exchangers or structural components for the e-mobility. Turnkey FSW production plants from Grenzebach convince by a high degree of automation and a dynamic process control, which lead to an extraordinary robustness of the welding process.

Friction Stir Welding

The process temperature in the solid phase joining technology is below the melting point of the materials.

  • Joining of aluminium alloys that are not or hardly fusion-weldable

  • Particularly suitable for the joining of mixed compounds with different alloys and metals as well as different product forms (e.g. wrought alloys with aluminium die cast)

  • No formation of hydrogen pores or hot cracking

  • Highly reproducible seam strength and seam quality

  • No auxiliaries, such as inert gas, powder, welding wire etc. required
