Cooperations for Sustainable Innovations
Grenzebach actively participates in industry-specific networks, initiatives, and projects to jointly promote sustainability. These partnerships enable innovations that have an impact beyond the individual company.
Examples:
- Membership in the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), the Georgia Association for Manufacturing (GAM), the Additive Manufacturer Green Trade Association (AMGTA), and many others
- Cooperation with universities and research facilities
- Partnerships with customers for the joint development of resource-efficient technologies
Selection of Best Practices & Case Studies
Innovations from the Business Units
- Asphalt Recycling with Fraunhofer UMSICHT:
Together with Fraunhofer UMSICHT, Grenzebach is developing a solution for asphalt recycling. The goal is to reduce the cost and environmental impact of road construction waste containing tar. This is an example of technology with real sustainability potential. - Design-to-Efficiency & Energy Optimization:
We already focus on resource-saving solutions in the development phase. The Glass business unit, for example, was able to significantly reduce the energy consumption of the annealing lehr through optimization, without sacrificing performance. - Recycling Process Heat:
Compared to other dryers, the ultra-high efficiency dryer saves up to 30 % energy by profitably utilizing waste heat from other processes. The dryer also recovers between 45 and 50 % of the water and can be operated with renewable energy at any time.
Sustainability in the Group
- In-house Energy Generation & Energy Efficiency:
Several locations have installed photovoltaic systems and modernized their buildings in an energy-efficient manner to increase the proportion of self-generated electricity and reduce energy consumption. - Waste Recycling & Material Analyses:
The Grenzebach Group focuses on a sustainable recycling economy and is systematically expanding it. Location-based waste management systems help save costs, reduce waste, and promote recycling. Simultaneously, we are working to reduce material consumption by implementing a sustainable product life cycle approach and carrying out targeted material analyses. - Employees & Working Atmosphere:
Providing continuous training and promoting a positive working atmosphere create the ideal conditions for the happiness and efficiency of all employees, and thus for the success of the Grenzebach Group. - Management of Hazardous Materials:
We use alternative materials whenever possible to reduce the amount of hazardous substances used. A predefined process in the environmental management system is used to qualify and approve dangerous substances at all locations.
