Innovation in the fast lane at the Automatica

11.06.2018 - inos and Grenzebach are introducing new measuring systems to the automotive industry and a Mobile Robot with efficiency benefits for all industries.

inos and Grenzebach are going strong at the leading trade fair for intelligent Automation and Robotics in Munich. inos, innovative partner to the automotive industry for more than 20 years and a strong member of the international Grenzebach Group, counts on innovations at the Automatica (June 19 - 22, 2018), booth 319, hall A4: On an Audi R8 Spyder V10 plus, inos presents two different measuring procedures utilizing two collaborating robots.

First: The gap and flushness measurement, one of the main quality procedures to determine gap widths and offset of components at the vehicle body. Highest accuracy is not only important for the aesthetic experience, but to avoid wind noises caused by sporty driving. Gap measuring between different materials is made possible by high-performance sensors from inos. This procedure is suitable for measuring headlights or chromed parts of the vehicle body.

Second: Three-dimensional geometries are displayed with a so-called 3D point cloud sensor (PCF sensor).  This procedure allows for depicting even complicated geometries with high accuracy – and the three-dimensional measuring offers the option to continue with further process steps, such as the 3D-CAD Matching in which a stored geometry is compared to the existing one and differences can be directly identified.

inos experts have access to a large quantity of high-grade sensors which ensures highest accuracy and quality when robots and image processing systems are considered in automation solutions. inos intensively collaborates with development departments of the automotive industry. For vehicles with completely new geometries and for the use of new materials, experts develop the required measuring systems at an early stage. For more than two decades now, inos is known to continuously develop new optimization potentials for their partners to increase efficiency and to integrate two measuring procedures into one single production cycle. One of the main goals is to ensure highest availability of the equipment: inos is part of a global network of more than 1,500 Grenzebach employees worldwide.

At the shared booth at the Automatica, Grenzebach will present the Mobile Robot MR10S, a high performer of Industry 4.0, able to accelerate in the integrated logistics of all industries. Position-independent, highly flexible and robustly localizing with integrated image processing. Mobile robots can move in all branches of the Factory of the Future. As of right now the MR10S is primarily used in the semiconductor industry, ideally suited for silicon wafer handling in the production of chips, especially for smart phones.
