Grenzebach supports mega project with its expertise in wood fiber insulation materials

  • Mega project: Grenzebach is to supply a flexible insulation board (flex board) plant for the second line of a new production center for flexible wood fiber insulation boards in Germany
  • The line will be eight feet wide and is designed to produce up to 1.5 million cubic meters of board per year, starting in September 2022
  • The annual capacity of 1.5 million cubic meters will make the new wood fiber insulation board plant in Germany the biggest of its kind worldwide

 

 

BAD HERSFELD/Germany. In the second quarter of 2021, a renowned wood products company placed an order with automation specialist Grenzebach for the design, supply and delivery and integration of a production line for flexible insulation boards. Grenzebach supports a mega project with this contract: The new production center for wood fiber insulation boards with several production lines and an annual capacity of two million cubic meters (million m³/ year) will be the biggest of its kind worldwide. The flex board line will be delivered this summer. The production line with the Grenzebach flex board equipment will be eight feet wide and have a capacity of 1.5 million m³/ year. Production is scheduled to start in September 2022. The plant will be the world's largest production facility for flexible wood fiber insulation boards.

State-of-the-art production line

Grenzebach contributes its many years of expertise in wood fiber insulation materials to the mega project: The Grenzebach scope of supply comprises all process-relevant equipment and machinery, from take-over of the dry fibers to the cut master board, as well as the complete installation and commissioning. The flex board line is the key element of the number 2 production line, as it encompasses the fiber blending and metering section, fiber spreading and mat forming section, press curing oven, trimming and cross-cutting saws, pneumatic conveying systems, baghouse dust collectors as well as the electrical equipment and control system.
