Sustainable solutions for the environment and the future

Sustainable Products & Environment

SUSTAINABILITY STARTS WITH PLANNING

Climate protection and environmental protection are integral part to Grenzebach's strategy. We take a holistic approach, from product development and resources utilization to the production and operation of our systems and solutions. This means that our customers, partners, and suppliers benefit from future-ready solutions that intelligently combine efficiency, sustainability, and innovation.

Sustainability on Product Level

  • Development of Sustainable Products
We focus our development processes on maximum energy efficiency, durability, and resource conservation. We utilize digital tools, modular designs, and simulation-based optimization to provide ecological product performance from the outset.

  • Resource Efficiency & Circular Economy
Our products are designed to allow for the reuse, recycling, or replacement of materials. From the design phase, we strive to maintain closed material cycles and optimize resource consumption throughout the entire product life cycle.

  • Solutions for Sustainable End Products
Our plants and systems help customers achieve their sustainability goals, such as reducing energy consumption, minimizing material use, and enabling the use of alternative raw materials.

Sustainability on the Corporate Level

  • Energy Efficiency & Climate Strategies
We pursue a corporate strategy to reduce our energy consumption and carbon footprint. To achieve this, we rely on renewable energy sources, energy-efficient buildings, and intelligent control of consumption.

  • Minimizing the Environmental Impact
We focus on environmentally friendly procedures, waste minimization, and optimized processes in production and logistics. We regularly monitor environmental indicators and continually improve them through a process of continuous improvement.

  • Circular Economy in the Company
We also live the circular economy in our operations, for example, by implementing recycling initiatives, return systems, or reusing technical components in maintenance.
Joint initiatives for sustainability and innovation

Cooperations for Sustainable Innovations

Grenzebach actively participates in industry-specific networks, initiatives, and projects to jointly promote sustainability. These partnerships enable innovations that have an impact beyond the individual company.

Examples:

  • Membership in the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), the Georgia Association for Manufacturing (GAM), the Additive Manufacturer Green Trade Association (AMGTA), and many others
  • Cooperation with universities and research facilities
  • Partnerships with customers for the joint development of resource-efficient technologies

Selection of Best Practices & Case Studies

Innovations from the Business Units

Innovations from the Business Units

  • Asphalt Recycling with Fraunhofer UMSICHT:
Together with Fraunhofer UMSICHT, Grenzebach is developing a solution for asphalt recycling. The goal is to reduce the cost and environmental impact of road construction waste containing tar. This is an example of technology with real sustainability potential.
  • Design-to-Efficiency & Energy Optimization:
We already focus on resource-saving solutions in the development phase. The Glass business unit, for example, was able to significantly reduce the energy consumption of the annealing lehr through optimization, without sacrificing performance.
  • Recycling Process Heat:
Compared to other dryers, the ultra-high efficiency dryer saves up to 30 % energy by profitably utilizing waste heat from other processes. The dryer also recovers between 45 and 50 % of the water and can be operated with renewable energy at any time.
Sustainability in the Group

Sustainability in the Group

  • In-house Energy Generation & Energy Efficiency:
Several locations have installed photovoltaic systems and modernized their buildings in an energy-efficient manner to increase the proportion of self-generated electricity and reduce energy consumption.
  • Waste Recycling & Material Analyses:
The Grenzebach Group focuses on a sustainable recycling economy and is systematically expanding it. Location-based waste management systems help save costs, reduce waste, and promote recycling. Simultaneously, we are working to reduce material consumption by implementing a sustainable product life cycle approach and carrying out targeted material analyses.
  • Employees & Working Atmosphere:
Providing continuous training and promoting a positive working atmosphere create the ideal conditions for the happiness and efficiency of all employees, and thus for the success of the Grenzebach Group.
  • Management of Hazardous Materials:
We use alternative materials whenever possible to reduce the amount of hazardous substances used. A predefined process in the environmental management system is used to qualify and approve dangerous substances at all locations.
