Mobile robotics of the future

29.11.2016 - At the TCW (Technology Transfer Center) in Nördlingen, students from the Augsburg University are conducting research on mobile robotics and the man-machine communication of the future using automated guided vehicles of the L1200S type from Grenzebach.

In the age of digitization of production industry and the change to “Industry 4.0”, mobile robotics and the man-machine communication are at the center of the research project. The students from the Augsburg University have the opportunity to work hands-on at the TCW in Nördlingen with two automated guided vehicles (AGV) from Grenzebach. The vehicles of the type L1200S are incorporated in a model factory that was installed in Nördlingen by the Augsburg University. The factory enables the students to test and research under real working conditions.

AGVs from Grenzebach are not only successfully implemented at customer sites, but are available to the University to simulate the production technology of the future. Together, the Augsburg University, the TCW in Nördlingen and Grenzebach promote flexible automation and are convinced that mobile robotics will become as natural as the use of smart phones.

On November 22nd, 2016, representatives from politics and industry presented their ideas for the production technology of the future to the district administrator, Stefan Rößle.

On Thursday, December 8th, 2016, Roland Jenning, head of innovations at Grenzebach, will give a presentation at the TCW within the program of the technology forum Robot Innovations on this exact topic: "Demands for tomorrow's automation in the field of production".
